Responsibilities include:
1. **Patient Assessment:** Conducting initial assessments of patients to evaluate their medical history, substance use, mental health, and overall health condition.
2. **Monitoring and Observation:** Observing and monitoring patients throughout the night, ensuring their safety, and addressing any immediate medical needs or concerns.
3. **Medication Management:** Administering medications as prescribed by healthcare providers, monitoring their effects, and educating patients about medication usage and potential side effects.
4. **Crisis Intervention:** Being prepared to handle and intervene in emergencies or crises related to substance abuse, including overdose situations, withdrawal symptoms, or mental health crises.
5. **Collaboration:** Working closely with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, psychologists, social workers, and counselors, to create comprehensive treatment plans and ensure coordinated care.
6. **Documentation:** Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting observations, treatments provided, and any changes in the patient's condition.
7. **Patient Education:** Educating patients and their families about substance abuse disorders, treatment options, relapse prevention strategies, and promoting healthy lifestyle choices.
8. **Support and Counseling:** Providing emotional support, counseling, and guidance to patients during their recovery journey, offering encouragement and resources for continued sobriety.
9. **Advocacy and Referral:** Advocating for patients' needs and connecting them with community resources, support groups, or additional services that can aid in their recovery process.
10. **Compliance and Regulations:** Adhering to healthcare laws, regulations, and ethical standards while maintaining confidentiality and respecting patient rights.
11. **Continuous Learning:** Staying updated with the latest developments, research, and best practices in substance abuse treatment and nursing care through ongoing education and professional development.
12. **Shift Handover and Reporting:** Effectively communicating with the day shift team, providing comprehensive reports on patient status, any incidents, or changes observed during the night.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Knowledge obtained through attainment of applicable state Registered Nurse’s license.
· Skill in implementing nursing protocol.
· Skill in patient assessment.
· Ability to assign and direct work.
· Ability to carry out instruction and accurately document medical information.
· Ability to work and communicate with others.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Nursing degree from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of knowledge and experience.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Valid Registered Nurse license.
