Form of workThe Progressive Cardiac Care Unit at The Johns Hopkins Hospital is a 32-bed unit, consisting of 20 telemetry, and 12 ICU step-down beds. The unit cares for highly acute cardiac medicine patients with diagnoses such as acute MI, cardiomyopathy, dysrhythmia, and heart failure. Treatments are primarily medical, but frequently include intervention in the Cardiac Cath & Electrophysiology lab, including stent placement, ablation, PPM/AICD implantation, or TAVR. Due to the chronicity of cardiac disease, staff have the opportunity to form strong positive relationships due to the extended stays of many patients and their families. This unit is resourced a full-time "monitor watch" tech to assist in early detection of EKG changes and to alert staff of lethal rhythms. Staff on the floor will gain experience with vasoactive drip titration, Swann-Ganz catheters, LVADs, phlebotomy & IV insertion, ACLS, and palliative care.

Shifts: 12 hour day/night rotating shifts

Who Should Apply:
- BSN/MSN preferred. Associated degree candidates encouraged to apply!
- Active Maryland or Compact RN license is required
- BLS CPR certification required: AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network accepted
- No RN work experience required - training will be provided!
All New Graduate RNs will be automatically enrolled in our yearlong Nurse Residency Program to facilitate your successful transition into professional nursing practice.
(Applicants with an Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program may be considered; provided they are enrolled in an accredited BSN/MSN program within 1 year of hire and complete the degree within 5 years of hire)
