Essential skills:

Pre-operative duties include but are not limited to:

· Manage patients’ admission processes to preoperative department.

· Assess the status of patients’ health in pre-op and ensure accuracy of patient identification.

· Ensure that operative and informed consents are accurate for the procedure scheduled.

· Complete admission assessment and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure.

· Initiate IVs and administer preoperative medications as ordered.

Post-operative duties include but are not limited to:

· Assess patients’ condition after a surgery has been performed.

· Ensure that all vitals are within normal range.

· Develop individualized care plans based on each individual patient’s condition.

· Ensure that all nursing activities are carried out in accordance to individual patient care plan.

· Monitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the surgeon and/or anesthesiologist.

· Initiate patient education programs to ensure that both patients and families are educated on procedures and medications.

· Determine when patients are ready for discharge based on discharge criteria.

· Perform intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergencies.

Skills and Requirements:

· Must be a Registered Nurse with an unrestricted license in the state of Arizona

· Minimum 1-year previous RN experience in preop and/or PACU preferred.

· Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred

· Current BLS and ACLS (within 3 months of hire)

· Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient

· Must be an excellent team player and have the ability to communicate with staff, patients and physicians.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
