As a member of the perioperative team, you will work with physicians, CRNAs, surgical technologists, and other personnel in delivering quality patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities before, during and after surgery.
Job Summary:
- Responsible for interviewing and assessing patient’s physical/psychosocial/holistic needs to plan, implement and evaluate patient focused care. Reviews surgeons’ pre-requisites and test results, communicating abnormalities and/or omissions to appropriate persons
- Collaborates and coordinates care with other health care team members to promote quality health care.
- Provides direct care and delegates aspects of care to other members of the health care team consistent with their level of preparation (licensure/credentials/certifications) and job description utilizing time and resources effectively
- Utilizes nursing process to identify individual patient needs, including learning needs, goals and plan of care.
- Functions as a role model for professional nursing by utilizing leadership skills, functioning as a patient advocate, seeking opportunities for self growth/performance improvement and assisting in the development of others
- Adapts to unexpected events such emergent or unscheduled surgeries, changes in patient condition or equipment failure in a calm and cooperative manner
- Responsible for accurate and complete perioperative documentation as it relates to Perioperative Outcomes Standards
Position Details:
- Full-time working 72-80 hours every two weeks
- Schedule including: Monday-Friday, variable 9-10 hr shifts between 4:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
- No weekends or holidays!
Qualifications:
- Graduate from a nursing program, Bachelor’s or Master’s in nursing preferred
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in nursing required within 3 years of hire
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Minnesota required
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card required, can be obtained upon hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required
- National Certification in a Nursing Specialty preferred
- Knowledge of nursing standards, policies, procedures, and ethics
- Previous experience in perioperative or surgical departments preferred
