Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse Perioperative, Operating Room RN
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Perioperative, Operating Room RN. In this role, you will collaborate with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to provide safe and efficient perioperative care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. Your knowledge of surgical procedures, aseptic techniques, and ability to work under pressure will be crucial in ensuring the success of our Operating Room team.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform preoperative assessments and develop appropriate nursing care plans based on individual patient needs.
- Assist in preparing the Operating Room for surgical procedures by ensuring all necessary equipment, supplies, and instruments are ready.
- Provide circulating and scrub nurse duties during surgical procedures, including monitoring the sterile field, maintaining the surgical count, and documenting patient care provided.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and other treatments as prescribed by the surgeon or anesthesiologist.
- Assess, monitor, and document patients' postoperative conditions, including vital signs, pain levels, and recovery progress.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and ensure a smooth transition between different stages of the perioperative process.
- Assist in the training and orientation of new staff members, such as surgical technicians and nursing students, providing them with guidance and support.
- Maintain accurate and concise documentation of all patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe environment within the Operating Room.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in perioperative nursing by attending educational workshops, conferences, and staying current on relevant research.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid Registered Nurse license in the state of [state].
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program, with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Registered Nurse in an Operating Room setting.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, aseptic techniques, and infection control practices.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills to handle emergencies and unexpected situations effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, patients, and their families.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems and other relevant software applications.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required, additional certifications such as CNOR are preferred.
