Overview
The Nursing Operations Supervisor is responsible for providing care and treatment for clients that are experiencing significant mental health/psychiatric symptoms and co-occurring substance use. This position will actively participate in daily activities in each of the IRTS locations, including but not limited to interactions with persons served, assessments, progress notes, med administration and supervision.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the operation in the implementation of facility-based medical quality assurance programs
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in developing and implementing policy and procedure
  • Supervises RNs, LPNs, and medication passer ILS staff
  • Regularly travels between multiple sites
  • Assists with screening medically complex referrals with accessibility to service focus
  • Participates in the Interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings
  • Participates in the development of the person served support plan
  • Provides training services as needed to staff including but not limited to medication administration, signs, and symptoms of illness, etc.
  • Provides direct care services as needed, including but not limited to in the absence of a location RN, filling in and providing the 8 hours per week at the location per the IRTS Variance
  • Facilitate communication and serve as a liaison between and among nursing staff, nursing and direct care staff, the work site and community medical providers, professional consultants, and direct care in cooperation with Operations Management
  • Provide feedback to Director of Nursing regarding necessary changes and revisions
  • Completes supervisees performance evaluations and goal planning annually
  • Assure all assigned staff receive training and supervision as needed to meet performance expectations
  • Coordinate and oversee in the hiring process of all assigned positions in accordance with ResCare policy and local, state, and federal employment law
  • Attend/complete all manager training as deemed appropriate by the operation
  • Attends and actively participates in weekly team meetings on a rotating basis
  • Provides rehabilitation and coordinates medical needs for clients as needed, including coaching and education to the people that we serve
  • Medication Monitoring and Administration by oral medication or needle injections
  • Assists as needed with orders, reviews, monitors, and discontinues medications as ordered by the physician
  • Performs competency and skills evaluations on employees who provide direct care.
  • Informing the physician and staff of changes in the client's medical or mental condition and needs
  • Coordinates psychiatric information with the psychiatric rehabilitation practitioners.
  • Completes documentation in a timely manner including interventions, Progress notes, summaries, care coordination and discharges
  • Group and Individual Counseling
  • Case Management
  • Implements the treatment/rehabilitative activities and strategies
  • Crisis Prevention
  • Reports significant / major incidents or accident and assisting with internal investigations as needed
  • Provides coaching/learning to staff including identifying successes and areas for improvement for employees, delegates tasks or responsibilities for the purpose of developing other's abilities and rewards good performance and promotes employee recognition
  • Provides and promotes consumer choice and facilitate independence.
  • Supervises department to ensure compliance with contractual, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs other duties designed to improve employee effectiveness as a member of the team

Qualifications
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN), current and in good standing
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Mental Health experience required
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Experience in managing systems, processes, and people
  • Operate general office equipment
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Capable of working responsibly with highly confidential information
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
