JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The on-Call RN is responsible for ensuring that patient care is coordinated and managed appropriately during hours that the office is closed. The on-Call RN is responsible for ensuring that care and services are delivered appropriately. Will provide emergent visits and pronouncements during scheduled on call time for assigned territory.
Here is you:
- Registered nurse with current licensure to practice professional nursing in the Maine.
- Graduate of NLN accredited school of nursing
- Ideally have some previous experience in hospice care setting. Proven ability to work within an interdisciplinary setting.
- Comply with accepted professional standards and practice.
- Has excellent observation, good nursing judgment and communication skills, Understands hospice philosophy and issues of death/dying.
- Understands principles of pain/symptom management.
- Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order.
- Demonstrates excellent observation, verbal, and written communication skills.
- This is a full-time position working 5pm - 8am, Monday through Thursday and then Friday 5pm through 8am on Mondays.
Your Missions:
- Responds to calls from on-call phone, RNs for needed visits.
- Reviews available patient information related to case, to determine hospice care needs.
- Provides emergent visits and pronouncements in accordance with hospice standards and agency policies.
- Communicates with the Hospice Director as needed regarding any questions about an individual's care.
- Reviews patient's medical diagnosis, prognosis, medications, procedures, and clinical course.
- Complies with accepted professional standards and principles.
- Performs other duties and activities as delegated by the Director of Hospice Services.
