Monday - Thursday 6:00am-3:30pm

About Hope House

Hope House is a drug and alcohol treatment center for homeless and low-income women. Hope House is a free program to all who qualify. We have an inpatient, residential program in addition to an intensive outpatient program. Services include housing support, medical care, case management, parenting and childcare support, vocational training, and other life-skills training designed to instill self-sufficiency that will support long-term recovery.

Job Overview

Under the direction of the Medical Coordinator, the Registered Nurse provides care related to Medical needs of all Participants involved in the programs at Hope House within their scope of practice. Care provided includes, but is not limited to first aid, medication dispensing, answering medical questions related to care, providing advice for new and expectant mothers, performing drug screens, and updating medical charts. The Nurse is a hands-on and participative team member who supports Participants’ recovery and the day-to-day operations within the medical department.

Essential Functions

1. Ensures program residents receive preventative, routine, ongoing, follow up and emergency medical services.

2. Assesses and coordinates the medical needs of program residents.

3. Maintains the health and well-being of all residents.

4. Documents all medical services provided to residents per Hope House and regulating body’s guidelines.

5. Documents communication with medical service providers, clinical directors, program directors and staff counselors.

6. Performs home visits when required.

7. Maintains the medical chart in accordance with Hope House policy and procedure, DBHDD regulation, HIPAA and 42 CFR.

8. Utilizes the electronic health record to document client services and communication.

9. Reviews the proper distribution and documentation of all medications.

10. Reports any and all medication or documentation errors, as outlined in Hope House policy and procedure to the Clinical Director and Medical Coordinator.

11. Ensures all prescribed and over-the-counter medications are secured, inventoried, administered and recorded in compliance with Hope House policies and procedures.

12. Works with Treatment Team to develop the medical plan of action as reflected in the Treatment Plan.

13. Schedules all resident medical care including appropriate referrals to the case management department when necessary.

14. Provides emergency first-aid and determines if additional medical intervention is necessary.

15. Engages in clinical programming as directed.

16. Conducts health related in-service classes for program participants including, but not limited to, Sex Education, Nutrition, Birth Control, Personal Hygiene, Pregnancy education and related topics.

17. Maintains the Medical Office and Medication Cart to meet program needs.

18. Obtains breath and urine samples for AOD testing.

19. Administers TB tests.

20. Maintains patient and personal safety regarding occupational health and safety.

21. Supervises the self-administration of medication by program participant in accordance with physician’s prescription order.

22. Displays a positive and professional image and attitude in all relationships with participants, families, and peers.

23. Maintains absolute confidentiality of all information pertaining to patients, families, and staff and adhere to all HIPAA requirements.

24. Performs all other duties assigned.

Qualifications

· Licensed Registered Nurse, preferably in the state of Georgia

· 2 – 3 years’ experience with Mental Health, women’s healthcare, OBGYN, and/or substance use disorders

· EMR platform experience

· CPR + First Aid Certification

· Prescribe to a professional canon of ethics

· Licensed to work in the state of Georgia

· The employee will spend more than 70% of their time on their feet and/or walking to move between indoor areas and outdoor areas of the Hope House campus.

· The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.

· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
