Higginsville Habilitation Center is a state operated program within the Department of Mental Health that supports individuals receiving 24/7 services in a group home setting. We are recruiting for full-time Registered Nurse's to be a part of our Nursing Team.
Registered Nurse Essential Job Functions
Provide professional nursing care to HHC individualsObserve consumers' condition. Document findings and communicate to nursing staff and others as directed (Guardians, Superintendent, etc.)Report discrepancies in orders, care, medications, or treatments to the physician.Accompany individuals on medical appointmentsEducate direct care staff to ensure compliance with medication administration, personal care, etc.Know what to do in an emergency and how to use emergency equipment (O 2 , suction machine, AED, fire extinguisher)Administer prescribed medications and treatments as ordered by physicianEnsure narcotic counts are accurate each shiftWork overtime and work on other shifts as directed in order to provide sufficient staff coverage.Supervise license practical nurses Receives and records physician's orders according to accepted practices and facility policies.Call orders to pharmacy (new or refills)Keep Medication Administration Records (MAR) currentAdminister vaccines, IM's and TB testsAssist with monthly drug renewalsDraw labs and process for pick-upMake roundsAssist PCP as neededCommunicate medical needs to direct care staffBe able to use the two-way radioWork with Individuals' Team to assess consumers' needs, plan and modify care, and implement interventions.Attend meetingsSchedule appointmentsObtain consents as neededMaintain Individuals' chart Keep Immunizations, seizure records, etc currentAssure all orders are signed by the Primary Care Physician (PCP)Complete paperwork as assignedMaintain med roomsOrder supplies and restock as neededAssure cleanliness of roomEnsure drugs are stored appropriatelyMaintain trainingMaintain current in CPRComplete new employee orientationComplete annual training or other training as assignedAdhere to ICF/DD regulations, facility policies, procedures, DOR's, Merit System Rules and Regulations.Physical requirementsCan lift as least 50 poundsAble to perform physical requirements including, but not limited to: 1) frequent standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, or crouching; 2) regular walking, talking, hearing, reaching with hands and arms (including above head); and 3) occasional climbing of stairs or balancingQUALIFICATIONS:Must have current Registered Nurse License in State of Missouri
