Position summary
As a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, the Registered Nurse (RN) is a vital member of the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). The RN plays a critical role in delivering high-quality nursing care to individuals participating in the day program. The ideal candidate will have a background in psychiatric nursing, strong clinical skills, and a commitment to providing holistic care.
Primary duties & responsibilities
Conduct nursing assessments to evaluate the physical and mental health status of patients in the PHP.
Administer medications, monitor responses, and collaborate with the treatment team to adjust treatment plans as needed.
Monitor vital signs, mental health symptoms, and overall well-being of patients throughout the day program.
Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient conditions, including psychiatric crises.
Build therapeutic relationships with patients to support their mental health and overall well-being.
Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized care plans in collaboration with the treatment team.
Provide health education to patients and their families, including medication management, symptom recognition, and self-care strategies.
Collaborate with the treatment team to conduct educational groups on relevant health topics.
Work closely with psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and contribute to treatment planning.
Assist in managing psychiatric crises by providing immediate nursing interventions and collaborating with the treatment team to ensure patient safety.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with regulatory standards.
Collaborate with the administrative team to ensure timely completion of required documentation.
Experience and Professional Qualifications
Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Virginia.
Experience in psychiatric nursing or a related mental health field.
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
