Requirements:
- Rhode Island license.
- ASN/ BSN Degree.
- 2 References.
- CPR certifications.
- AED certifications.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the Department of Health guidelines and the school's health policies to maintain the defined scope of practice.
- Act as an active intermediary between children, their families, and healthcare resources to facilitate coordinated care.
- Carry out tasks such as administering first aid, dispensing medication, providing specialized medical treatment, etc.
- Ensure the proper maintenance of health records and the submission of required reports to external agencies.
- Evaluate situations concerning the safety of students and take appropriate action when needed.
- Develop and implement healthcare plans for students with chronic health conditions and those with 504 accommodation requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of all health office visits, updating them as needed.
- Collaborate with the Director of Nursing, Health & PE to address any concerns related to students' health needs.
- Attend school meetings as scheduled, particularly when they pertain to students with medical conditions.
- Facilitate effective communication with parents as specified by established protocols.
- Complete monthly reports as outlined by the Health Administrator.
- Provide coverage at another school in case of emergencies or for the distribution of medications if the school nurse is unavailable.
- Foster a health-promoting environment within the school community.
- Perform any other assigned duties as required.
