Job Summary:
The Ambulatory CareRegistered Nurse (RN) is an essential member of the healthcare team responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in an outpatient or Ambulatory Care setting. Working in various clinics, outpatient departments, or specialty care centers, the RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care while emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, and continuity of care.
Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment and Care Planning:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients in an outpatient setting, including gathering relevant health history and conducting physical examinations.
Develop individualized care plans based on patient needs and treatment goals.
Patient Education:
Provide education to patients and their families about their health conditions, medications, and treatment plans.
Promote health and wellness through preventive measures and lifestyle modifications.
Clinical Procedures:
Perform various clinical procedures such as injections, wound care, and medication administration as prescribed by healthcare providers.
Assist with minor surgical procedures or examinations in the outpatient setting.
Coordination of Care:
Collaborate with healthcare providers, specialists, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate patient care.
Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals or services as needed.
Health Promotion and Disease Prevention:
Participate in health promotion activities, screenings, and vaccinations to prevent and manage chronic conditions.
Support patients in adopting healthy lifestyle behaviors.
Patient Advocacy:
Advocate for patients' rights and preferences in the healthcare decision-making process.
Assist patients in navigating the healthcare system and accessing appropriate resources.
Infection Control:
Adhere to infection control protocols to maintain a safe and sanitary environment in the Ambulatory Care setting.
Implement measures to prevent the spread of infections.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records, documenting patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational documentation standards.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, including physicians, nurse practitioners, and administrative staff, to enhance patient care.
Communicate effectively with patients and families, providing information and addressing concerns.
Quality Improvement:
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the delivery of care and patient satisfaction.
Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid RN license in the state of practice.
- Bachelor's or Associate degree in Nursing.
- Previous experience in Ambulatory Care, outpatient clinics, or specialty care is advantageous.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Strong clinical and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities.
