Position Overview:
The Community Registered Nurse (RN) for ABiLITY plays a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of individuals with developmental disabilities receiving residential services. This position is in a home healthcare setting with 24 hour fully staffed residential homes for our clients. This role involves overseeing medication administration, managing delegated nursing tasks, and monitoring the overall health status of our clients. The RN provides supervision to unlicensed assistive personnel, ensuring compliance with healthcare protocols and maintaining accurate documentation of all nursing activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Medication Administration Oversight:
- Supervise and delegate medication administration tasks to certified Level 1 Medication Aides.
- Conduct monthly reviews of physician’s orders, medication records, and staff documentation.
- Regularly assess the techniques and skills of each certified aide.
Delegated Nursing Tasks:
- Supervise and manage all delegated nursing tasks, ensuring compliance with healthcare procedures.
- Perform monthly health assessments of consumers to identify and address health concerns or changes in status.
Compliance and Communication:
- Monitor and implement physician orders, including treatments, procedures, appointments, diets, and adaptive equipment.
- Maintain regular communication with agency management and habilitation teams.
- Document and report any changes in consumer health status and deficiencies in care standards.
Documentation and Flexibility:
- Maintain accurate and timely records, including RN notes, related to consumer health and care activities.
- Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling to accommodate client needs and unexpected changes.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Active RN license issued by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
- Experience in working with adults with developmental disabilities and community services preferred
- Certifications as a Level 1 Medication Aide and Insulin Administration Instructor.
- Proficiency in communication tools, including telephone, computer, and relevant software.
- Reliable transportation for on-site visits and ability to navigate physical barriers.
