The Registered Chemotherapy Nurse position is to positively affect patient outcomes by providing, coordinating, and supporting evidence-based direct patient care across the continuum of care.
· Plan, direct, and supervise overall nursing care within infusion suite to include scheduling, check-out, patient triage, and verification of physician directed orders
· Administer chemotherapy, hydration and other medications under the direction and supervision of physicians
· Mixing of chemotherapy, hydration, and other medications as needed, in the absence of a Pharmacy Technician (preferred, not required)
· Document as required within the EMR all treatment and nursing assessments
· Set goals and long-range plans for infusion suite. Participate in meeting the educational needs of self and others. Complete projects and other duties as assigned. Implement changes to achieve identified team goals.
Organize and prioritize work of patient care team. ·Demonstrate clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures, and managing emergencies. Identify and assess patient's needs for nursing care and other services. Collaborate with physicians, other services, patient, and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes. Train, coach and assist team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources. Functions in related roles as required (e.g. charge nurse, preceptor, clinical coach, etc.).
