The expected ENTRY pay range for this position based on experience and equity within the Judicial Branch is $22.39 to $25.46.
This position is non-exempt under the FLSA.

About the Position
This Regional Homeless Court Assistant will play a crucial role in providing essential organization, coordination, and administration of Regional Homeless Court (RHC) activities, including administrative support, sustainable training, participant and community engagement, improved management of caseloads, streamlining of application processes, and improved overall program efficiency.
Standard Judicial Branch business hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. This position may allow for a teleworking schedule up to 2 days per week dependent on the needs of the Judicial Branch following a probationary period of 3 months.

Position Qualifications

Education:
  • Associate degree in a related field
Experience:
  • Two (2) years of responsible related administrative experience
OR
Combined education and experience qualifications:
  • An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and job-related experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis
Other Requirements:
  • Applicants must have or obtain a valid Arizona Driver License and reliable vehicle by time of hire.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge of:
  • Principles and practices of record keeping and records management.
  • Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
Skill in:
  • Computers and software including the operation of Microsoft Office
  • Communication with attention to grammar, detail, proofreading, and formatting
  • Accurately and efficiently preparing memos, letters, and emails

  • Learn court organization, functions, and services; laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the judicial process.

  • Establish and maintain constructive, trust based and cooperative working relationships with individuals from the public, all levels of the organization, executive staff and judicial officers.
Essential Job Tasks
(This is not an all-inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.)
  • Acts as liaison to Regional Homeless Court Community-Based Service Providers, RHC defendants, the general public, and the courts, including serving as RHC representative at community events such as the Phoenix Veterans StandDown, Glendale Veteran’s StandUp, Project Connect, etc.
  • Coordinates and administers the activities of RHC including conducting surveys of defendants and volunteers and recording case statistics.
  • Compiles data related to RHC activities, prepares reports, and advises the Superior Court Program Manager, Judicial Branch management and Maricopa County Regional Homeless Court Governing Council regarding program status and trends.
  • Maintains Community-Based Service Providers (CBSP) lists, their pre-determined program requirements, and agreements.
  • Develops and provides standardized, regular training to CBSP organizations on the RHC program.
  • Develops and maintains RHC program manuals, in addition to program and policy changes that are updated on a bi-annual and annual basis.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding the program, including interpretation of policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates RHC processes and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Assists management with research and analysis related to special projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Solicits, schedules, and trains volunteer presiding judicial officers and legal service providers.
  • Processes applications for RHC including running background checks and compiling the docket, with the goal of increasing case disposition success rates and time to disposition.
  • Provides courtroom support, serving as courtroom assistant, clerk, and judicial assistant for RHC during scheduled hearings.
  • Assists in the transitioning from paper-based application process to digital forms/applications.
Working conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak clearly and hear; see details of objects that are less than a few feet away; sit for long periods of time; stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally push, pull or lift up to 20 pounds.
Judicial Branch facilities are located throughout Maricopa County. This position will require travel to community events and designated locations on a regular basis. Assignments will be made based upon the needs of the department.

Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.
