The Regional Environment Health & Safety Manager is responsible for leading and maintaining adherence to corporate Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies, procedures and federal, state and local regulations in all U.S. Stores, DCs/FCs, ARRCs, Service Centers and Offices. Uses reporting and analytics to provide recommendations for compliance and conducts regular site visits to validate execution is maintained in all areas of EHS. Develops and executes TJX's Environmental, Health and Safety programs thru injury and illness prevention, regulatory compliance efforts and case management on all incident and injury claims.
- Responsible for the overall development, implementation and execution of company programs by ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local codes regarding Environmental, Health and Safety. Executes loss control and compliance strategies developed in coordination with the Home Office and Operational leadership.
- Develops and executes companywide Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP) that includes all required OSHA programs and Associate training requirements.
- Provides comprehensive risk assessments and EHS data analysis to build trust and confidence with the Operations team to drive influential change.
- Monitors industry regulatory trends and partners with senior leadership teams on OSHA, Department of Health and other regulatory agency preparedness procedures to proactively address potential challenges.
- Leads all OSHA, Department of Health and regulatory agency investigative responses and abatements. Coordinates serious injury and illness investigations with Legal and Outside Counsel. Completes depositions and testimony as needed on behalf of Company on contested OSHA matters.
- Evaluates and identifies loss-producing physical conditions and Associate behaviors across all U.S. facility types and provides recommendations to reduce injuries, illnesses and related costs. Submits evaluations to senior management for use in performance appraisals.
- Ensures company developed loss reduction strategies, policies and procedures are implemented in the facilities and makes recommendations for better adherence to those policies and procedures.
- Performs comprehensive case management in an effort to control worker's compensation expenses.
- Completes timely and robust injury reporting procedures and follows up with TJX Workers Compensation team, General Liability team and Insurance carriers.
- Monitors execution of all injury and illness reviews with senior and facility level leadership and leads correction of non-compliance.
- Consultation responsibilities to TJX International Environmental, Health & Safety teams.
- Special projects as assigned.
Who We Are Looking For: You.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Management, EHS or relevant study
- 5+ years of applicable experience in retail, distribution or manufacturing environment
- Ability to travel 50-75%
- Principles and techniques of modern EHS management.
- Thorough knowledge of EHS laws and regulations, including their interpretation and enforcement
- Experience managing workers compensation claims or risk insurance company standards and requirements
- General knowledge of safety/facility engineering and ergonomics
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
