Title:Regional Community Relations Specialist
Primary Location: Grand Rapids, open to all Michigan regions
Employee Status: full-time
Estimated Hours/Week: 38
Remote: Yes - hybrid schedule
Travel Expected: 25% - 30%

About this position:
LMCU is looking for a Regional Community Relations Specialist that will enhance LMCU's image internally and externally through the engagement and mobilization of staff volunteerism in the community, philanthropic and community partnerships, sponsorships, and impact initiative execution.
What you'll do:
  • Lead community engagement efforts, including sponsorships and philanthropic outreach in LMCU's Michigan footprint beyond Grand Rapids including the Lakeshore and Eastern, Northwest, and Southwest Michigan regions. Potential support of LMCU's Florida involvement may also be necessary at times. *Frequent regional and local travel will be required.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and coordination with LMCU staff, management, and community members, including them in business development opportunities, volunteerism, and community events in assigned territories and serving as a connector.
  • Maintain and further develop existing partnerships and initiate new relationships in the business community, education, and hospital fields as well as other sectors while representing LMCU in a professional manner at all times.
  • Ensure that the credit union is highly visible in the community through volunteer efforts, as well as through organized special events that promote the credit union's investments in community development projects. Assist with the coordination and execution of all volunteer activities involving LMCU staff members and volunteers.
  • Identify and create opportunities for LMCU to partner with schools, businesses, and non-profit organizations in support of financial wellness initiatives and outreach.
  • Track, collate, and maintain inventory of supplies and donations, as required.

What You'll Bring: You'll like this position if you have...
  • Three years to five years of experience in public relations, business development, and/or marketing.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Communications, Public Relations or a related field of study.
  • Ability to build relationships and have compassionate, caring personality traits.
  • Safely operate a vehicle in all types of weather conditions; valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite of products.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills in all forms: verbal, written and electronic.
