Job description

The Regional Automation Project Manager is responsible for managing the scheduling, resourcing, monitoring and controlling of all field level work of automation including installation quality control, subcontractor procurement, subcontractor management and safety, and supporting field personnel achieve the automation objectives of the project. This requires a great partnership and relationship with centralized Automation resources that perform the design, engineering, equipment selection, ordering, software programming and GUI development to meet the performance outcomes of the project plan. S/he works closely with the Project Manager to lead the execution of the project plan and achieve maximum performance in an efficient manner. The Regional Automation Project Manager is responsible for oversite of their assigned project portfolio, ensuring the highest quality of craftsmanship for installed scope of work within the execution of the scope, schedule, budgets and specifications, while ensuring safe working practices in accordance with the Schneider Electric safety policy.

  • Responsible for mentoring and supporting Automation Superintendents during the installation of Automation Project scope
  • Responsible for ensuring that each project has a safety plan for Automation integrated in with the overall project safety plan
  • Support Automation Superintendent with any incidents, escalated safety issues or conflict with subcontractor in performing against project safety plan
  • Support Automation Superintendent for any escalated issues with project team, client or performance issues with subcontractor, technical solution
  • Lead Automation Superintendents with subcontractors on all facets of their work and personnel, ensuring quality installation and conformance to all specification and performance requirements.
  • Collaborates with Design Engineering to understand Automation pipeline and strategic approach on new opportunities
  • Lead and help manage the installed quality of building automation systems and digital integrations
  • Collaborates with Design Engineering and Central Engineering Leadership to support continuous improvement of our standard design and implementation standards that are adapting to the client requirements and establishing the appropriate level of requirements to achieve excellence client satisfaction and sustainable performance results.
  • Support Automation Superintendents team as they supervise subcontractors performing work to the specification agreed upon.
  • Perform validation and testing of the installed Automation equipment for ensure it operates and performs as required.
  • Support Automation Superintendents team in validation and testing quality installation of graphical interface for client
  • Support Automation Superintendents and coordinate/schedule with automation specialists for any required needs relate to more complex systems and testing/operational requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring that each Automation project has a quality assurance plan that has been created in advance of work being performed, implemented as required and that documentation is stored appropriately in Procore.
  • Collaborate and coordinate consistently with Project Manager and Central Engineering Resources to create and integrate the Automation schedule into the project schedule and project requirements.
  • Manage the overall regional Automation effort to perform against scope, schedule, budget, specifications, quality plan and client expectations. Collaborate with PM on any changes to the plan that will impact commitments.
  • Coordinate with project team, site superintendents and all supporting personnel/subcontractors to ensure that automation work is performing against plan
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Automation Engineering for alignment in execution and delivery against plan and requirements.
  • Support the Project Manager in managing the site logistics and customer coordination as required.
  • Support, build and maintain good relationships with inspectors, engineers, subcontractors, and client representatives connected with the project.
  • Support and participate in project coordination meetings
  • Organize and coordinate customer-training manuals and customer training as required
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering and PDM to establish required budgets and plans during development of the project.
  • Build relationships and network with Automation electrical subcontractors for Region.
  • Manage and execute the procurement of subcontractors in support of budget and specifications and in alignment with MSA and Avetta requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, skills and/or abilities required. An individual must meet the minimum requirements as listed in each Qualifications subsection.
  • Passion and experience (preferred) to lead Regional Automation field implementation effort through teamwork, professionalism, collaboration, coordination, influence and support, Ability to elevate the trust and development of teams skill and abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with varying demands and requirements ranging from small projects to large projects, self-performed or 3rd party execution, and more or less complexity. Ability to understand when additional expertise is required and seek out support.
  • Understand and lead the knowledge share of Automation Systems and Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning Systems (HVAC).
  • Two-year degree or 10+ years of equivalent work experience preferred. Project Management experience preferred.
  • This role requires a strong technical competency, experience in construction and automation management best practices, ability to demonstrate experience and independent responsibility with high confidence in the automation field.

  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and project management/organization skills required
  • Strong leadership skill and aspirations to lead in a continuous improvement environment and passion to evolve solutions
  • Understanding of HVAC, electrical systems and control systems required
    • Schneider Electric BAS platforms (Vista, Continuum, I/Net, StruxureWare, EcoStruxure, and/or Invensys) highly preferred.
    • Working experience with other building automation vendors (Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Allerton, Automated Logic, etc.) highly preferred.
  • Ability to understand HVAC drawings, electrical drawings, scope of work documents and schematics required
  • Proficient in Procore and Microsoft Office programs including but not limited to, Word, Excel, TEAMs, and MS Project required
  • Strong basic math skills required
  • Ability to thoroughly understand and follow plans and specifications in the construction of a project required
  • Passionate about customer service and team success required
  • Expert ability to adjust to changes, adapt and overcome challenges as required

Travel:
  • Ability to travel greater than 50% to project sites required. Normal work schedule is Mon-Thurs/Fri depending on project requirements. Special project circumstances may require additional working hours on weekends; however, this is typically scheduled in advance.

While performing the primary functions of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to a general office environment. During periods of project site visits, the employee will be exposed to outside weather conditions as well as mechanical equipment rooms, which could consist of confined spaces and loud noises. Employee may work in different environments while on various job sites. This job requires work to be performed on project sites and thus will require greater than 50-70% travel to project sites. Travel will occur using an automobile or by airplane to destinations.
