Job description

Purpose of Position
To work cooperatively and communicate politely with Department Heads, employees, patients, visitors and other personnel to install, repair, plan, design, modify, troubleshoot, safety test, evaluate and maintain the Hospital's refrigeration (Blood Bank, Kitchen, Nursing floors and Lab) ice machines, and small air conditioning systems.
Description
1. Tests, troubleshoots, plans, repairs, installs, modifies, evaluates and maintains refrigerators, ice machines, small air conditioner equipment and system; such as; Blood Bank, Kitchen, Nursing Floors refrigerators, Ice machines and small (0-5) ton air conditioner units or systems.
2. Applies current engineering practices, City, State, Federal and JCAHO codes to develop, install and correct malfunctions, equipment and systems (kitchen, ice machines, lab, nursing floor air conditioner units).
3. Performs preventive maintenance, safety checks and inspects equipment and systems in accordance with department and Hospital guidelines and procedures. Repairs equipment in a timely manner.
4. Ensures that all ice machines are clean, inspected and tested to meet infection controls procedures.
5. Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance (Federal CFC requirements) and safety, participates in educational programs and inservice meetings.
6. Assist other Plant & Maintenance personnel and perform other work related duties as requested or assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational Training.
  • Mass Refrigeration and Technicians License.
  • Minimum of Type 2 EPA Certification.

Grade 16A.
  • Electrician, Plumber, Pipe Fitter, Refrigeration Technician or HVAC Mechanic who possess or maintain 1 or more additional license(s) within their present position, e. g., Master Plumber, Journeyman, Electrician, Master Electrician, Refrigeration, Refrigeration Contractors, NATE certification/RSES CM, Mass Contract Sprinkler License, Mass Sprinkler Fitter License, Mass Pipe Fitter, Mass. Medical Gas Certification, Mass. Refrigeration Technician License, and/or Mass Refrigeration Contractor License.
Grade 16.
  • Electrician, Plumber, Pipe Fitter, Refrigeration Technician or HVAC Mechanic who possess or maintain 1 or more additional license(s) in another field, e. g., Master Plumber, Journeyman, Electrician, Master Electrician, Refrigeration, Refrigeration Contractors, NATE certification/RSES CM, Mass Contract Sprinkler License, Mass Sprinkler Fitter License, Mass Pipe Fitter, Mass. Medical Gas Certification, Mass. Refrigeration Technician License, and/or Mass Refrigeration Contractor License.
