Job Description
Scope: The Refractory Engineer will manage the design and processes related to refractory items with the goal of extending the life and reliability of associated manufacturing equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Give direction on refractory methods and processes to the maintenance department.
- Lead efforts to troubleshoot issues causing emergency shutdowns in manufacturing.
- Gather and analyze data to predict equipment failure related to refractory.
- Create a plan for refractory replacements/upgrades as part of the shutdown process.
- Responsible for reliability of broiler and other equipment as related to refractory.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline
- Six Sigma/Lean Certification and Working experience with Statistical Processes
- Some knowledge of materials (steel, concrete, asphalt, etc.) as it pertains to facilities and equipment maintenance
- Experience with refractory systems
- Experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment, metal forming background (i.e. mill/foundry) preferred.
