We are seeking a new Referral Specialist.
This position functions as a member of the health care team by coordinating referrals from primary care to specialty care and diagnostic testing. Processes a variety of electronic health information and medical documents; follows up on patient appointments and assures CFCN receives correspondence from specialty providers. Is a major communicator and facilitator between all members of the health care team, patients and their families.
What You Will Do
- Responsible for arranging referral appointments for patients, as directed by the medical staff. Processes detailed information on CFCN’s electronic health record, including scheduling and tracking appointments, reminder letters to patients to contact specialists’ offices for appointments, missed appointment reminders, and assuring CFCN receives correspondence from specialty providers.
- Communicates effectively with health care teams when encountering difficulty getting patients into specialty care.
- Processes prior authorizations for CT scans, MRIs, physical therapy and the like.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring
Our ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of relevant experience and the following skills:
- Prior experience in working in an outpatient primary care setting. Must demonstrate good understanding of all functions in the outpatient clinical setting.
- Must possess exceptional accuracy in data entry skills, writing, typing, filing and organizing.
- Ability to work independently of supervision.
