About the Referral & Authorization Coordinator Role

Upperline Health Indiana is seeking an energetic, compassionate and driven Referral & Authorization Coordinator to assist our physicians in delivering complex health services in the clinic setting. This person will be based in our Columbus, IN location.

 

Referral & Authorization Coordinator Responsibilities

 

• Obtain and verify insurance benefits and eligibility and initiate Referral and Authorization requests for in office services in accordance with the authorization workflow list

• Process requests for referrals, precertification and /or authorizations communicated through EMR, fax, phone or email

• Maintain authorizations and referrals utilizing the EMR system

• Must be familiar with and remain current with all insurance carriers and requirements to include a working knowledge of Referral and precertification processes and medical necessity guidelines

• Responsible for answering, screening, taking messages and providing appropriate information to patients regarding referral, pre-certs, and Authorization needs.

• Focus on providing exceptional customer service and communication with patients and external and internal referral sources

• Demonstrate effective communication skills and written communication skills among all interactions

• May be requested to support and perform other duties as determined by the management team as deemed necessary to the operation of the clinic.

Referral & Authorization Coordinator Requirements

• Previous experience in a clinic or hospital setting assisting a physician with clinical and administrative tasks

• Demonstrate a working knowledge of diagnosis codes and CPT codes related to podiatric care

• Possess a basic knowledge of medical terminology, PC applications and EMR software.

• Reliable and dedicated co-worker who is able to assist the physician in a diverse set of tasks and responsibilities

• An exceptional customer service orientation featuring an empathetic, compassionate and professional demeanor with each interaction

• Tenacious problem solver, with demonstrated capacity to embrace complex problems and arrive at effective solutions in a timely manner

• Enjoys working in a team-based environment with active collaboration
