Purpose Statement
The Yorkville Community Unit School District 115 Recruitment and Retention Specialist will facilitate and lead district efforts to attract and retain employees. CUSD 115 is a growing school community that takes pride in a talented workforce and intends to improve the overall quality of the employee experience. A successful Recruitment and Retention Specialist has excellent interpersonal skills, is organized and detail-oriented, and is knowledgeable of employment legislature.
 
Reports to:      Associate Superintendent
 
Work Year:    260 days (12 months)

Essential Functions
  • Ensures the onboarding process is welcoming, thorough, and reflects the district educational philosophy.
  • Designs and develops leadership pipelines that ensures a long-term sustainable teacher and administrator leadership candidate pool.
  • Develops partnerships with universities to create cohorts that lead to certificates, licenses, and endorsements.
  • Designs and implements retention programs that promote employee wellness and positive working environments.
  • Interviews and screens classified and certified employee candidates.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Monitors and verifies certified and classified staff certification.
  • Oversees the district's Teacher Vacancy Grant Compliance as determined by the Illinois State Board of Education.
  • Promotes the district's reputation and attractiveness as a desirable employment opportunity.
  • Maintains accurate Recruitment and Retention data and creates reports for the district administration and Board of Education as requested.
  • Collaborates with district personnel to provide ongoing professional development for new employees.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities 
 
SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records. The employee is required to have communication skills including the ability to write reports and correspondence consistent with the duties of the job; ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information; the ability to read, analyze and interpret information; and display courtesy and tact with respect to others.
 
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: codes/laws/rules/regulations/policies; English grammar/punctuation/ spelling/vocabulary; office equipment/software; and office practices 
 
ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; using a computer proficiently and applicable software; and working with detailed information/data. Possesses a high level of skill and knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite products.
 
 
Physical Demands/Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
