General Information:
The Recreational Therapist will provide therapeutic recreation and leisure time activities. These activities will be physically challenging, educational, therapeutic, and constructive. The Recreational Therapist will teach youth healthy ways to maintain their own physical well-being, in addition to providing alternative ways of spending leisure time.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Coordinate and over-see certain activities for the residents to partake in such as, but not limited to:
o Basketball Tournaments
o Dodge Ball Tournaments
o Football Games
o Movie Days
o Pool Days During Summer Months
o Cook-outs
o Music Class
o Art Class
o Bible Study
· Occupy as much of the residents' time as possible on 2nd shift.
· Establish a good rapport with the residents.
· Participate in the reporting and handling of crisis situations.
· Demonstrate Competence in the cultural knowledge, awareness, and sensitivity.
· Maintain knowledge of community resources.
· Maintain discipline following State Guidelines.
· Monitor residents for a safe environment at the facility
· Follow all applicable policies of WHWH/Duval Academy.
· Participate in the PQI Program as requested.
· Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Education and Experience
· Bachelors degree in recreational therapy or related field required.
· Valid drivers license required.
· One year of experience in working with youth and/or coordinating events preferred.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of standing, squatting, walking.
· Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
· Must pass a drug test.
