• Starting pay is $32.64/hour (This rate is non-negotiable and there is a 6-month probationary period). In this position you have the potential of making up to $45/hour.

The City of Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation Services is looking for a dynamic, highly motivated individual to supervise the day-to-day operations of Veteran’s Memorial Park Pool and Ice Arena. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of Ann Arbor's Parks and Recreation staff team. This position would manage a regulation NHL size Ice Arena, which is open from September through April as well as a popular outdoor swimming pool, which is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Veteran’s Memorial Park offers a variety of popular programming for the community including adult and youth hockey leagues, instructional skating, drop-in hockey and is home to several high school hockey teams. The summer season has public swimming as well as a swim team and swimming lesson. The facility is located within beautiful Veterans Memorial Park which is a 37-acre park located in the Northwest part of the city. Veterans Memorial Park is one of the busiest parks in Ann Arbor, with tennis and pickleball courts, baseball and softball diamonds, and a 30,000 square foot skatepark in addition to the outdoor Pool and indoor Ice Arena. Role Summary:

Incumbent performs under the general supervision of the Unit Manager or Deputy Manager and may be responsible for the following duties, listed in order of frequency and importance:

Essential Duties:

• Supervise staff and assist them with administrative, staffing and organizing needs.
• Develop, recommend, implement, and monitor standard operating procedures and regulations for facility(ies), parks and/or programs.
• Coordinate, compile and recommend site program, service, operation, maintenance and development plans and projects.
• Able to manage, and operate a variety of recreation facilities, parks and programs.
• Ensure proper tracking and analysis of facility operation performance management.
• Keep manager apprised of operational progress through periodic reports.
• Identify and respond to issues within service unit as directed.
• Complete special projects to coordinate research, complete plans and reports, and provide support to meet service unit and service area priorities.
• May be assigned to different facilities, if needed.

Education, Training and Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience supervising others: minimum two years experience
• Recreation facility management: minimum two years experience

  and/or

• Recreation program management: minimum two years experience

• The City of Ann Arbor, at its discretion, may consider an alternative combination of formal education and work experience

Education, Training and Experience Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreations Management, Facilities Management, Recreation Management, Commercial Recreation, or related field.

Licensing Requirements:

• Current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certifications.
• Lifeguard Certification or the ability to obtain.
