We are currently looking for a full time Recreation Counselor Tech for our Adult Inpatient program (Abe's Place) located in Aliquippa, Pa (Center Twp).

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for coordinating and implementing patient therapeutic recreation.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates and implements therapeutic and recreational activities programming, both onsite at Gateway’s main campus and at off site locations as needed.
- Supervises patient recreational activities and assures that all activities are properly supervised
- Acts as a member of the treatment teams to provide support for therapists and Counselor Techs by engaging patients in therapeutic activities that support their treatment goals.
- Implements evidence-based practices utilized in Gateway’s continuum of services in therapeutic recreational activities.
- Assures the safety of patients including monitoring patient activity and crisis intervention.
- Schedule and organize program events to support therapeutic activities within the community such as, but not limited to, holidays activities and special events.
- Document recovery activity groups in Credible as required by DDAP standards.
- Transports patients to off-site activities and events as scheduled.
- Work as part of the treatment teams to support to staff as needed to facilitate daily schedules.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifying Education, Experience and Skill Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-high school education preferred.
- Understanding of 12 step recovery programs and the recovery process preferred.
- Experience conducting therapeutic activities preferred.
- Knowledge of age specific growth and development.
Other Requirements/Information:
- Valid driver’s license with favorable driving record.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Flexibility regarding work schedule.
- PA Criminal History Check, Childline, and FBI clearances.
- This position requires mandatory staffing coverage when necessary to provide a safe treatment environment for Gateway residents.
