The Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR), is seeking Temporary Part-Time Recreation ActivitiesStudent Assistants for exciting, unique programs and events throughout the County. Examples of programs include elementary break camp days, skate nights, amusement management, and special events throughout the year.
The Youth, Teen, and Family Programs are designed to provide youth with a fun, safe, challenging, and enriching experience where they can learn grow and play! Our programs also provide a variety of opportunities for families to engage in activities together. Don't miss out, come join our team and be a part of Arlington youth and families' memories!
Specific duties include:
  • Leading or assisting with planning and conducting recreation programs and events;
  • Leading or assisting with facilitation of recreational activities and completing participant and program evaluations;
  • Working with individuals with disabilities;
  • Working with the Teen Entrepreneurship Amusement Management Program (T.E.A.M) as:
    • Moon Bounce Attendant;
    • Moon Bounce Delivery Assistant;
    • Face Painting;
    • DJ & Movie Event assistance; and
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess good character and integrity, positive communication skills, reliable transportation, and the ability to complete tasks, take initiatives, and work successfully in a team environment.
Minimum: Must be currently enrolled in High School (between 14-18 years of age). Applicants must be at least 14 years old to be hired.
Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
  • Working with youth in a recreation setting;
  • Working with diverse populations;
  • Willingness to work with individuals with disabilities; and
  • Program design, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Staff may be required to:
  • Agree to a criminal background check.
  • Provide letters of reference and/or supporting documentation to verify work/school experience prior to an offer of employment. Letters of reference may be attached to this application.
  • Provide negative TB results or submit to a TB screening.

Work Hours: Vary in days and hours, up to twenty (20) hours per week, generally Monday - Sunday, including evenings and weekends depending upon scheduled events, with flexibility to accommodate school and activity schedules. May be required to work in various DPR locations in Arlington.
