Job Summary:
The Recovery Specialist will assist individuals with a substance use disorder by serving as a role model, advocate, and motivator. Through lived experience, the Recovery Specialist will provide non-clinical individual and group support to develop a recovery care plan, educate individuals on recovery models and cultivate supportive tools to enhance recovery. The Recovery Specialist will work closely with the individual s multidisciplinary care team and community-based organizations to connect patients with additional recovery support services that best fit their needs.
Position Responsibilities:
- Engage individuals and provide non-clinical assistance and recovery support
- Ability to establish connection and trust with patients throughout intervention
- Ability to relate life-experience and show compassion and empathy
- Creates individualized recovery support plans based on patient needs and circumstances
- Advocate for the patients we serve
- Accurately and timely documents data in the electronic health record
- Gather client information to complete the required documentation in the electronic health record
- Complete all required documentation
- Screen and connect patients with non-clinical social/SDoH related services
- Maintain a supportive relationship with clients and families by being a positive role model and sharing experiential knowledge, hope and skills
- Establish and maintain relationships with patients following the grant requirement follow-up process
- Assist clients with gaining skills and resources needed to initiate and maintain recovery
- Utilize resources to empower and advocate for the patient
- Educate individuals on how to appropriately navigate treatment, social service and recovery support systems
- Maintain working relationships with our Patient Navigator and Hospital staff to ensure the navigation to treatment is successful
- Empower individuals to make self-determined and self-directed choices about their recovery pathway
- Facilitate recovery support meetings and groups
- Implement and lead meetings designed to engage, motivate and empower audience,
- Travel within 60-mile radius of assigned hospital to alternate facilities when recovery support services are needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required within 1 year of hire
- Must have at least 4 years experience in the guiding principles of recovery that assist individuals to improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and reach their full potential
- Must have reliable transportation
- Bilingual a plus
- Previous recovery work preferred
- NAADAC Certification or working towards one within 6 months of employment
- Computer skills and knowledge with the ability to email, navigate Microsoft Word, and other software systems
