Position Purpose:
The Recovery Outreach Specialist will need to be a goal-oriented professional interested in gaining experience in the behavioral health field while making a difference in the lives of tribal youth, teens, families, and elders in Ottawa County. As a Recovery Outreach Specialist, you will increase your knowledge and awareness of alcohol and substance misuse, mental health, and other related topics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Recovery Outreach Specialist will welcome and greet visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Answer, screen, and direct incoming phone calls.
- Sort and distribute mail and packages.
- File, copy, and scan confidential documents.
- Maintains an adequate inventory of all office supplies and equipment.
- Maintain break room, including stocking supplies.
- Assist office managers with various office meetings and events, including setting up and clean up.
- Keeps waiting rooms neat, clean, and organized.
- Provides coverage and assistance when necessary to maintain department quality standards.
- Will work in continuous collaboration with community outreach teams.
- Assists with research and provides administrative support to projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Outreach/public speaking experiences.
- A High School Diploma degree or equivalent education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- A willingness to self-disclose about personal recovery and wellness journey.
- Agree to respect and observe the Peer Recovery Support Specialist Code of Ethics.
- Work well in a team environment, be self-motivated, and be result-oriented.
- Ability to communicate effectively and in writing.
- Must maintain and be HIPPA-compliant.
- Maintain confidentiality for all clients of the Health and Human Services Departments.
- Physical ability to lift over 50 lbs. and stand for long periods.
- Assists with research and provides administrative support to projects.
Certifications:
- Valid Driver’s License and insurance.
- CPR/First Aid/AED Certified.
Conditions of Employment:

Work Requirements:
Position involves prolonged sitting, standing, stooping, or bending, lifting, or carrying up to 30 pounds on a daily basis. Work is generally performed in an office environment with varying levels of lighting, air quality, noise, and / or temperature.
