Position Purpose:
The Recovery Outreach Specialist will need to be a goal-oriented professional interested in gaining experience in the behavioral health field while making a difference in the lives of tribal youth, teens, families, and elders in Ottawa County. As a Recovery Outreach Specialist, you will increase your knowledge and awareness of alcohol and substance misuse, mental health, and other related topics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The Recovery Outreach Specialist will welcome and greet visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Answer, screen, and direct incoming phone calls.
  • Sort and distribute mail and packages.
  • File, copy, and scan confidential documents.
  • Maintains an adequate inventory of all office supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain break room, including stocking supplies.
  • Assist office managers with various office meetings and events, including setting up and clean up.
  • Keeps waiting rooms neat, clean, and organized.
  • Provides coverage and assistance when necessary to maintain department quality standards.
  • Will work in continuous collaboration with community outreach teams.
  • Assists with research and provides administrative support to projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Outreach/public speaking experiences.
  • A High School Diploma degree or equivalent education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • A willingness to self-disclose about personal recovery and wellness journey.
  • Agree to respect and observe the Peer Recovery Support Specialist Code of Ethics.
  • Work well in a team environment, be self-motivated, and be result-oriented.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and in writing.
  • Must maintain and be HIPPA-compliant.
  • Maintain confidentiality for all clients of the Health and Human Services Departments.
  • Physical ability to lift over 50 lbs. and stand for long periods.
  • Assists with research and provides administrative support to projects.

Certifications:
  • Valid Driver’s License and insurance.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED Certified.

Conditions of Employment:
The Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma operates a drug-free workplace.
  • Must submit to and pass applicable drug test, TB test, and/or Physical.
  • Must pass background check.
  • Adhere to all work rules, policies & procedures, and safety standards.

Work Requirements:
Position involves prolonged sitting, standing, stooping, or bending, lifting, or carrying up to 30 pounds on a daily basis. Work is generally performed in an office environment with varying levels of lighting, air quality, noise, and / or temperature.
