Description

Recovery Network of Programs, Inc. (RNP), is a private, non-profit, social service agency which has been serving the Greater Bridgeport Community and Fairfield County area since 1972. RNP is dedicated to helping those living with substance use, mental health disorders, and homelessness. Our mission is to restore hope, health, and wellbeing for individuals and families in a recovery environment that embraces compassion, dignity, and respect.

The Center for HumanServices (CHS)located in Stratford, Connecticut is a CARF accredited, Department of Public Health licensed, medication-assisted treatment program for opiate addicted persons utilizing prescribed methadone or buprenorphine/suboxone, and supportive counseling in conjunction with other support and referral services. The persons served attend individual counseling to address drug use/abuse, personal/family, employment, health, and legal issues. Group and family counseling, in addition to intensive outpatient services are offered to those who voluntarily seek additional support. Clients at CHS also have access to psychiatric care.

The Recovery Coach provides support services to clients at both MATS clinics and at Bridgeport Correctional Center.

HOURS

Monday through Friday 8am to 4pm

CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Provides recovery support through self-directed, strength-based approach to care. Utilizing principles based on the Recovery Coach Ten Components of Recovery.
  • Navigates medication assisted treatment participants through or around transportation, public benefits, childcare and other barriers to successful participation in MAT services. Assisting in linkage to recovery support activities by removing personal and environmental obstacles.
  • Maintains communications with community providers and builds a network of recovery support services to support program participant's attendance in organized, social sober activities.
  • Recognizes the elements of client crisis, implements an immediate course of action (in consultation with supervisor) appropriate to the crisis and utilizes negative events to enhance overall treatment outcomes.
  • Prepares agenda for supervision and utilizes supervision as needed to meet professional demands of job.
  • Educates individuals & families by providing information on recovery supports within the community.
  • Provides information and assertive linkages to services and resources with an emphasis on self-helpgroups, CCAR, recovery houses, sober events and programs, employment and job services.
  • Identifies the needs of clients that cannot be met by the counselor/organization, explains rationale for the referral to the client, and assists the client to utilize the support systems and community resources.
  • Meets all documentation requirements of position and program.
  • Assumes all other appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

Qualifications

CORE COMPETENCIES

Certification as a Recovery Coach required. Lived experience in stable recovery of substance use disorder and/or lived experience of HIV, incarceration, and/or homelessness.

  • Able to pass a Department of Correction background check to allow for entry into Bridgeport Correctional Center to provide Recovery Coach services to inmates, if needed.
  • Established expertise and practices related to professional boundaries and ethics.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships. Good communication skills.
  • Ability to project a professional image.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES

  • CCAR Recovery Coach Academy graduate and or/ Recovery Support Specialist training completed.
  • Valid Connecticut driver's license is required.
