DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
Enterprise Records and Health Information (ERHI) is a Shared Service Department that supports all aspects of the patient medical record from governance, integrity, documentation timeliness, completion, clinical coding, billing, release, and tracking to management of access, retention, and destruction.
ERHI provides advice and resources related to the lifecycle management of all UW Medicine records
ERHI is an integral part of the Enterprise Revenue Cycle and has a unique role in the organization that supports both clinical and operational activities.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists with monitoring and tracking requests for records, including medical records and prioritizes requests for records according to date and deadline Collaborates with UW Medicine Compliance and other stakeholders regarding on-time releases and tracking.
Analyzes and responds to requests for sensitive information, such as subpoenas, court orders, risk management and investigatory requests
Ensures compliance with legal requests by providing timely correspondence and responses to the issuing attorney or court; abstracting and compiling medical records in response to the requests and ensuring timely delivery and responses
Analyzes records to ensure information necessary is provided in a timely and Assists with auditing scanned records, including medical record documents, ensuring the integrity of the content of the database
Collaborates with ERHI Operations team for updating and adding content and resources to SharePoint team sites for Release of Information, Patient Identity, Chart Corrections, and Scanning
Applies naming convention standards to indexing and work assignments. Acts as subject matter experts regarding Epic and other reporting tools
Ensures accuracy of metrics and assists with the creation of standard reporting procedures
Assists the ROI Department and Supervisor in developing and supporting access initiatives by communicating with payers, requesters and providers and validating and responding to requests for access to UW Medicine's electronic medical record
Completes special projects as assigned, including providing back up for other teams such as patient identity, depending on changes in work volume, assisting in the development of office documentation, job aids, and training materials
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and two years of records analysis experience
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration
