Overview:
The Real Estate Review Appraiser complies with procedures for ordering and reviewing appraisals that insure compliance with Bank's policies and regulatory requirements.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Preparing technical and compliance reviews of all appraisal reports requested by management and is responsible for the appropriate documentation for Bank’s files regarding each appraisal reviewed.
- Interacting with fee appraisers to inform them of any valuation concerns regarding their reports and to develop well supported market values for lending purposes.
- Interacting with Relationship Managers, Underwriters, and other personnel to address/resolve appraisal questions.
- Ensure consistency with Uniform Standards of Appraisal Practice, bank policies, and generally accepted appraisal standards.
- Determine if the appraisal adequately addresses a wide variety of issues that affect property values, such as size, location, market conditions, and physical property condition.
- Report appraisal review results
- Collaborate with the Loan Specialist, Underwriters and Credit Analysts to ensure overall appraisal compliance, independence, and valuation.
- Stay up to date on market trends and conditions.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
- 5-7 years commercial property appraisal review experience for financial institution or private sector
- Must have the ability to function independently with minimal supervision, with accuracy and accountability.
- Knowledge of Real Estate Appraisal Theory and Application.
- Critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity.
- Organizational skills, including a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Effective oral and written communications sufficient to convey details on appraisals and processes.
- Word processing, spreadsheet and typing sufficient to produce spreadsheets with basic formulas and business form letters and memos.
- Ability to recognize deficiencies in appraisals and evaluations reports as well as changes in market trends and conditions.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Real Estate or related field.
