A DAY IN THE LIFE
In this role, your main focus is to support and guide mentees on their journey to rehabilitation. You have regular meetings with your assigned mentees, ensuring that you're there for them consistently and stepping in more often when they need extra help. The key to your success is building trust through open and honest conversations. You listen actively to their concerns while also providing them with information on different perspectives and choices.
Your role involves connecting mentees with pro-social community activities, resources, and positive influences. By doing this, you guide them toward healthier paths and help them make positive changes in their lives. Teamwork is crucial in this position, as you collaborate with other mentors, staff members, mentees' families, and community agencies. Together, you work towards fostering accountability and helping mentees understand the impact of their behavior on the community. It's truly fulfilling to be a part of their rehabilitation journey and witness their progress!
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED
- Willingness to undergo a routine criminal background check and discuss any concerns that arise
Experience working with public assistance recipients, the homeless, the formally incarcerated, or those affected by challenges associated with poverty is a plus!
