R&D Technician - Canada Yogurt - Golden Valley, Mn

OVERVIEW
Join the Canada Yogurt team and help grow Canadians' love of yogurt! We're seeking an R&D technician to support innovation, renovation and cost optimizations projects on Canada Yogurt based at James F Bell Technical Center in Golden Valley, MN. You will work on a variety of Yoplait adult and kid products at all stages of development from early prototyping to manufacturing scale-up.
This role will require strong technical skills, critical problem-solving skill, and the ability to collaborate with a multi-location team in the US and Canada. You will build partnerships with a passionate, highly engaged cross-functional team and develop technical expertise on our yogurt portfolio.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Design, coordinate and execute experiments : bench top, pilot plant and full scale manufacturing, including consumer testing; analyze experimental data and extract learning
• Build and leverage internal and external network (i.e. manufacturing facilities, suppliers) to support and execute work; will lead and own portions of work or projects
• Provide broad support to a specific project, and also support other Canada yogurt R&D team members
• Connect and collaborate within cross functional teams
• Create product formulations, specifications, and documentation in GMI systems (gPLM, Eclips, ELN)
• Sample analysis for analytical, shelf-life, and sensory evaluation
• Lead plant trials and start up in manufacturing environments
• Development, procurement, management, and shipment of materials

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma with 3-5 years of directly relatable experience in R&D or Food OR Associate Degree in Food Science or other relevant sciences with 1-2 years of directly relevant experiences
• Ability to travel to Canada
• Basic computer/technology skills (Office Suite, other computer programs)
• Comfortable in processing (pilot plant or plant) environment and operating the equipment
• Basic understanding of food safety and human safety
• Strong problem-solving skills & bias for action
• Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to a team environment
• Agile, ability to flex across teams within the platform as work needs shift
• Effectively manage multiple projects as various stages of feasibility and development

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous work experience in a similar field (Food product development experience/Laboratory experience)
• Strong aptitude for technology; highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Interpersonal ability to build relationships at all levels within the organization to advance your work
• Proven work record of attendance and performance
• Ability to assess and solve technical/mechanical problems
• Effectively manage and prioritize multiple competing priorities
• Experience working with global teams

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $43300.00 - $59600.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role.
