Working under supervision, the Lab Technician is primarily responsible for the organization and maintenance of the R D lab. The position will also support miscellaneous needs and activities of the entire R D team. The position will require excellent time management and flexibility to plan their workday accordingly. The position reports to a Technical Manager or higher, as necessary.
Job Responsibilites:
Lab Operations Maintenance
- Submit production requests for 'stock' extracts. Retrieve, Label, and Store accordingly
- Planning and producing extracts in the lab that are not on the production schedule
- Restocking essential lab materials such as packaging and ingredients
- Calibration of lab equipment daily
Project Requests
- Completes project requests as assigned
- Provide basic application samples and usage recommendations, as needed
- Collect data, help to perform basic lab analysis under supervision
Assisting R D Team
- Support team members with new product prototypes and optimization to existing products
- Support the Director of Continuous Improvement and Cost Saving in data collection
- Develop and maintain accurate records related to the products such as formulas, label development, production process, HACCP, product specification, nutritional data, shelf life, etc.
Additional tasks or projects outside "core" responsibilities
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualification
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering or related field preferred
- 0-2 years of Product Development experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Understanding of food science principles
- Sensory skills and knowledge of sensory evaluation techniques
- Combination of analytical skills and creative thinking.
- Willing to travel when needed
- Knowledge of GMP rules, and laboratory etiquette
