This role will be responsible for microbial enumeration of probiotics in foods, including assay development, enumeration, summarizing data, drafting reports and drafting standard protocols. 
Job Responsibilities:

• Takes initiative for completing tasks and assignments with a positive, "can-do" attitude.

• Adheres to, supports, and helps improve company Safety, Quality, and Environmental systems and policies.
• Carries out activities responsibly and professionally, fully complying with the company's policies.
• Actively contributes to project and group/department meetings.
• Independently carries out laboratory work and has laboratory technical knowledge in assigned industry or industries.
• Helps plan lab work.
• Uses relevant data analysis methods to interpret and summarize results.
• Demonstrates the ability to handle no-routine lab tasks.
• Utilizes verbal, written and visual communication skills and tools.
• Leads discussion and review of own laboratory experiments with senior staff.
• Optimizes existing lab methods.
• Performs validation of lab methods to ensure reliable results.
• Under guidance of senior staff, occasionally contacts selected customers, research/commercial partners, academia, trade, and professional institutions to provide specific technical support and/or communication.
• Understands industry applications within the area of responsibility.
• Assists in testing of new project/leads; is familiar with industry strategies.

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience in basic microbial enumeration and aseptic lab technique.
• Experience isolating microorganisms from food materials and working with automated high throughput workflows and equipment. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Basic understanding of microbiology techniques, methodology, equipment and supplies
• Ability to work independently, prioritize and meet goals.
• Good interpersonal and team working skills.
• Demonstrated success in attention to detail, collaboration, time management, and displaying the needed sense of urgency.
• Organizational and computer skills are required, including general use of Microsoft Office suite.

Education: 

• High Diploma with 8+ years relevant experience in technical area or
• AAS Degree in a relevant technical discipline with 4+ years relevant experience in technical area or
• BS Degree in a relevant technical area
