R&D Coordinator
Position Overview
To coordinate the process for adds/drops across the enterprise and coordinate the development and maintenance of Turf/Outdoor, Pad, Shaw Company Store, Rug, Adhesive, and Sundry products from initiation through sample shipment to the field. This position also serves as a backup for all Residential Product Coordinators. As automation comes online, this role will evolve into more product health reporting and input on enterprise drop opportunities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Observe safety conditions and safe work habits in all facilities
- Assist all divisions with drop process
- Coordinate the add/drop process including: maintaining the drop schedule, reports, etc.
- Audit to ensure accuracy of dropped specifications throughout all systems
- Work with costing on all product re-activations
- Create, maintain and distribute all necessary reports via multiple software systems
- Complete data analysis to ensure accuracy of information on reports
- Attend meetings as needed
- Issue cost estimate requests for development in appropriate NSP system 1
- Issue and distribute requests for XR/TPR documents to all necessary departments
- Originate specifications for new products. Input greige good and detailed product specifications as directed by the Product Development Manager(s) into the appropriate systems.
- Maintain the Product Progress Checklist by tracking the progress of new products in development from initiation through sample shipment; ie: XR completion, style names and quantities, Stage Gate initiation and approval, verify carpet requirements, color processing and layout completion, sample materials shipped to the sample department, carpet completion, print material completion, hardware completion, sample priority and shipment. Performed via TTR, MDM, MSS, email, etc.
- Obtain sample vehicle requirements from marketing. Calculate the carpet requirements needed for samples and relay that information to the appropriate people.
- Activate products in the appropriate system when new products are approved
- Enter layouts in TTR/MDM for private label requests for Turf/Outdoor and Pad products 16. Maintain product development timeline via Development Grids
- Communicate regularly with Marketing and the Sample Department
- Provide backup for Stylist to input Inventory and Selling colors and sample layouts into system(s)
- Create and maintain Product and XR archives using appropriate computer system with set ups
- Assists with Testing requests, purchase orders, and tracking testing progress.
- Spec expert capable of fielding questions from manufacturing, sales, marketing, R&D, etc., as well as ability to troubleshoot and resolve specification issues.
- Originate and maintain specifications for new products for Shaw Company Store Rugs, Pads, Adhesive, Sundry and Credit memos.
- Make approved revisions to specifications in a timely manner.
- Coordinate style consolidations with Inventory Management
- Participate in improvement opportunities: Kaizens, etc.
- Assist Information Services with customer related questions concerning all products
- Responsible for Sarbanes Oxley compliance
- Assist Corporate Quality with all mass spec changes.
- Assist in the development and perform necessary system testing on existing or new systems
- Assist in the development and maintain the Product Life Cycle Automated system
Other Duties:
- Maintain accurate records
- Any other special projects or request
- Assist with product mock-ups as needed
- Maintain all Pilot Plant development records
- Assist in tracking and obtaining yarns for new product sample material
- Initiate SYR letter requests and SYRs in system
- Provide backup for other Product Development Coordinators as needed
- Issue yarn components in the appropriate system in the absence of Product Development Spec Coordinator
- Create and maintain job procedures
Position Requirements:
- High School diploma
- Two years or more of administrative/office experience Good problem solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication skills
- Must be able to travel to different Shaw locations
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in the following systems: Time to Revenue, Master Data Management, MSS and Microsoft Suite
- Basic knowledge of yarn and carpet manufacturing
- Data analysis and problem solving
- Knowledge of Shaw computer/ reporting system
