Position Summary
Laclede Inc., a California-based health care products manufacturer is looking for an experienced Chemist II to join our Product Development team. This is a Full-Time position and will be responsible for assisting with new product formulation and innovation of existing product for consumer/OTC health care and animal products. This pharmaceutical professional will also ensure compliance with the FDA and other agencies.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Assist in Development and creation of innovative products to expand the R&D formulation library and enhance customer's presentations.
- Responsible for the growth and development, through new product development.
- Responsible for all steps of formula development from stability to full production scale up and to meet FDA guidelines.
- Develop new innovative marketable products. Revise/reformulate existing formulas and break down/ reverse engineer competitive products.
- Create R&D samples as requested by the customer.
- Research of raw materials and vendor management during development.
- Stability testing/evaluation and safety testing on new formulations.
- Manage the development of multiple products simultaneously and be comfortable in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment.
- Helps monitor pilots and support scale up batches.
- Research and initiate R&D cost savings.
- Perform special projects as required and independent research.
- Help prepare new raw material package including SDS, CofA, specification, etc.
- Participate in pilot lot preparation, data recording, bulk formulations, and GMP applications.
- Assure ingredient lists of final products compliance with domestic and international cosmetics and OTC regulations.
What You'll Need:
- B.S in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related Discipline.
- 5 years of experience as an R&D or Formulation Chemist, working in an FDA/GMP production environment preferred.
- Familiarity with FDA regulations as they apply to consumer/OTC health care products.
- Excellent communication and recording skills.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to data accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.
- An understand of organic, inorganic, physical or biochemistry
- Familiarity with common lab equipment.
- Full knowledge of hazardous material disposal laws.
- Ability to work safely around hazardous materials.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Hourly rate starting at $22 - $35 based on experience including annual bonus
