Job description

The Business Data Analyst II role is responsible for leading the creation, maintenance, and execution of a variety of reports, reconciliations, and analyses. The role is also responsible to manage the day-to-day activities of the off-shore counterparts and perform QA on their work product. The role primarily supports Revenue Cycle in both the Pre-Bill and Post-Bill domains. Additionally, the Analyst may even support other stakeholders from Finance, Accounting, and Operations.

The Analyst is responsible for acquiring data, cleaning, filtering from a variety of structured and unstructured sources and build reporting solutions that provide decision support for leadership. Also, the analyst will define reporting process improvements, and lead the design, and development of repeatable solutions to enable frequent refreshes and trending.

The Analyst will interpret the data, analysis, and apply statistical methods to derive intelligence about the business and identify revenue, and cost optimization strategies. An individual in this role will identify trends, patterns, and work with stakeholders such as Directors, VPs, and CxOs to assist them in process optimizations.

The Analyst is responsible for maintaining a high level of standard around accuracy, timeliness, and presentation standards using MicroStrategy, Excel, SQL, and SQL Integration Services. They will also strive to automate reporting solutions.

The Analyst will be stewards of continuous improvement, train other members of the team, and find new methods of streamlining existing reports.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsibilities:

  • Primary Functions:
    • Design, Create, maintain, and execute sets of recurring reports and ensure they are produced timely and accurately.
    • Acquire data from structured and unstructured sources, clean, filter, and develop reporting solutions for stakeholders.
    • Design, and build out reporting process improvements and develop automated reports to fill business needs.
    • Coordinate with departments across the Revenue Cycle to fulfill reporting needs.
    • Coordinate and QA the work deliverables from our offshore counterparts.
    • Ability to work with large datasets for multiple source systems.
    • Provide reporting that facilitates decision making in a visual and easily understandable format.
    • Anticipate and understand the reporting needs of key stakeholders across the Revenue Cycle.
    • Perform ad hoc analysis as needed, often with short notice and defined timetables.
    • Seek out ways to streamline and improve current reports as the need arises.
    • Maintain open and consistent communication with various departments.
    • Make informed, data driven conclusions independently and exercise discretion in the analysis of the data and the urgency of the communication required to leadership.
    • Apply statistical methods to study and interpret data trends and communicate findings and make recommendations to leadership for improvement opportunities.
    • Participate as key member on projects as needed to provide support and analysis for business to meet their objectives.
    • Use various tools such as Excel, SQL, and MicroStrategy to develop, present, and maintain a high standard of reporting. Also, identify other tools that might be suited better for solutioning.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge
    • Must be proficient in handling large amounts of data
    • Advanced proficiency in Excel
    • Proficient use of MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Windows
    • SQL knowledge not required but preferred

    • Must be well organized and demonstrate effective time management skills
    • Excellent communication skills for working with all different levels of professionals, including executives and C-Suite
    • Must be detail oriented and structured in problem solving
    • Ability to effectively communicate information one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
    • Motivated self-starter, capable, with minimal supervision, of planning, developing and maintaining individual projects
    • Ability to quickly and independently assess the priority and impact of the nature of the reporting ask

EDUCATION (Required and/or Preferred):

  • BS or BA degree required, healthcare or management field preferred.
  • GED with relevant work experience required.

FIELD OF STUDY:

  • Preferred Data Sciences, Accounting, Finance, or MIS

WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-6 years experience preferred.
  • Relevant experience in Analytics preferred.
  • Healthcare knowledge preferred.
