Job Purpose
As a Raw Materials Planner, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of Raw Materials through the supply chain. Your primary responsibilities will include forecasting raw material requirements, coordinating with suppliers, managing inventory levels, and optimizing procurement processes to support production schedules. The goal is to maintain an uninterrupted supply of Raw Materials while minimizing excess inventory and associated costs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Generate purchase orders and ensure a consistent and adequate supply of Raw Materials necessary to meet the forecasted needs and production schedule.
  • Update trigger and reorder points in SAP on a quarterly basis based on the forecasted needs.
  • Use SAP/MRP to support raw material planning activities.
  • Follow up with suppliers on any outstanding orders.
  • Identify potential risks in the supply chain, such as supply shortages, supplier reliability issues, and market fluctuations and communicate any risks to the Planning team.
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies to address and minimize potential disruptions.
  • Coordinate with other departments regarding timelines and notifications of any/all potential out of stock situations.
  • Implement inventory control strategies to prevent expired and overstock situations.
  • Manage inventory issues related to schedule changes, cancellations, reforecast data, and production rework.
  • Liaising with internal customers, suppliers, and distributors.
  • Coordinate return shipments or credit requests for any defects or damages.
  • Work with suppliers to schedule dock appointments for FTL or LTL shipments when appropriate and gather timeliness of raw material deliveries to ensure dates are accurately reflected on POs in SAP.
  • Prepare regular reports on inventory levels, supplier performance, and other relevant metrics and KPIs.
  • Implementation of EOQ for Raw Materials
  • Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct reports or supervisory responsibility.

Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in material planning, inventory management, purchasing, or a related position.
  • A self-starter who requires minimal direct supervision.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and configuration management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment while adhering to schedule and budget plans. 
  • Strong mathematical, critical thinking, and problem-solving acumen.
  • Ability to communicate dense information in a clear and concise format.
  • Ability to organize information and track results in a meaningful, data-driven way.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of tools with a heavy focus on written email communications, Teams, and Excel.
  • Experience with relationship building and maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Ability and willingness to identify the need and make continuous improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in business, logistics, inventory management, or a related field.
  • Direct experience with procurement of equipment & confectionary ingredients.
  • Experience in using ERP/MRP software, SAP preferred.
  • Previous experience with cannabis extraction, testing, packaging, and manufacturing operations.
  • APICS certification in CPIM and/or CSCP preferred.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in business, supply chain, or other related field.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
This position requires a valid state-issued license to work in the cannabis industry (e.g., MED Badge).
Compensation and Benefits
  • Annual compensation commensurate with experience from $60,000 - $70,000.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This position is exempt from overtime pay due to administrative employee exemption.
This position regularly works normal business hours, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week. Please confirm with the supervisor regarding the expected working schedule.
Travel is not expected.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment, warehouse environment, and production line/kitchen environment where proper safety procedures must be followed. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. This position may use standard kitchen, lab, labeling, and packaging equipment, for example, refrigerators, stove, hot plate, rotary evaporator, gas chromatograph, vacuum pumps, vacuum oven, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The employee should be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
