Ranch Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Maintain awareness of all safety, state & federal sanitation, and security procedures relevant to the department and property. Ensure department members are familiar with and adhere to them as well. 
• Maintain awareness of resort, reservations, group business and special requests or functions and their potential effect on the operations. 
• Hire, train or supervise workers engaged in planting, cultivating, fertilizing, spraying, irrigating, harvesting, or marketing crops, or raising livestock. 
• Direct crop production operations, such as planning, tilling, planting, fertilizing, cultivating, spraying, or harvesting. 
• Monitor and adjust irrigation systems to distribute water according to crop needs and to avoid wasting water. 
• Maintain the financial, operational, production or employment records for the farm, evaluate marketing or sales alternatives for the products of the farm, prepare budgets or financial reports for the farm, and obtain the financial approvals necessary for purchases of machinery and supplies. 
• Maintain ranch equipment including tractors, buildings, fences, irrigation equipment, trucks, etc. in accordance with manufactures’ specifications. 
• Assist with winter operations of the resort, specifically leading the snow removal team. 
• Hires, trains and supervisor snow removal team and operates heavy removal equipment and is able to provide snow removal services at all hours in the day in a safe and efficient manner. 
• Other duties that may arise as required by the job

Qualifications and Education: 

• 8+ years of ranch/farming experience preferred 
• 3-5+ years of management experience 
• Experience with budgeting and financial aspects of farming 
• Experience with Large farm equipment and snow removal equipment  
• Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions and may be required to lift up to 75lbs 

Additional Ranch Operation Information:

Farming operation:

• Two employees 
• 350 farmable acres 
• Seven pivots 
• 2-million-gallon reservoir 
• Crops: Alfalfa, oats, and 3-way 
• Equipment to operate and maintain: Tractor, swather, bailer, dish, harrow, hay rake, backhoe, forklift, and front-end loader. 
• Facilities to operate and maintain: 3-bedroom farmhouse with detached garage, seven pivots, reservoir, reservoir pump, hay barn, equipment storage shed, and shop. 

 Ranching operation:

• Leasing land for cattle and sheep grazing 
• Manage leasing contracts. 
• Maintain water sources. 
• Maintain thirty miles of fencing. 
• Twelve natural springs 
• Equipment to operate and maintain: Pickups, 6-wheeler, and side by side. 
• Facilities to operate and maintain: Horse barn, calving barn with vet room, and corrals/chutes with watering system. 
• Host guided hunting operation as a Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit

Resort Winter Snow Removal:

• Collaborating with the Senior Manager of Base Operations to manage the snow removal of approximately thirteen acres of parking lots to facilitate ski area operations. 
• Six employees 
• Swing, and grave shifts 
• Equipment to operate and maintain: three front end loaders with snow pushers, backhoe, two plow trucks with salt spreaders, dump truck, and a snowcat.
