As a Rail Designer I, you will play a crucial role in supporting the design and development of rail infrastructure. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who have an interest in Rail Engineering to kickstart their career and gain valuable design experience. You will acquire knowledge and develop basic skills in this position. You will apply techniques and procedures in accordance with established criteria to perform assigned tasks. This position performs routine technical work that does not require previous experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- CAD Design: Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create detailed drawings, plans, and layouts for rail infrastructure and other related components.
- Technical Support: Collaborate with senior rail designers and engineers to provide technical support in the development of rail projects, ensuring design meets quality and client standards.
- Data Analysis: Assist in collecting and analyzing data relevant to rail projects.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers and project managers to ensure seamless project execution and compliance with design requirements.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure designs are error-free and meet client standards.
- Other duties as assigned or required to meet the business needs.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Proficiency in CAD software (MicroStation) is preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program.
- No experience required.
Additional Qualifications, Certifications, etc.:
- EIT is preferred
