Job description


The Radon Lab Technician is responsible for the analysis of radon in air and water samples. This incumbent serves a key role in documenting, reporting, maintaining and archiving laboratory test results which make our communities safer.
Principal Responsibilities:
·Perform daily laboratory activities including sample analysis, equipment maintenance, and cleaning of laboratory and work area
·Enter and submit data from samples for review, and return samples for archiving
·Compile and audit reports for review and approval by the Laboratory Supervisor; document and archive all laboratory analysis reports
·Monitor effluent quality for process control, interpret laboratory analysis and trends, and communicate results with Laboratory Supervisor
Education, Registration & Certification:
·Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science (or variations of / related majors) is preferred, but not required.
-ICP-MS Operator Certification, preferred (NJ)
-Experience with an ICP-MS, GC-MS, and/or LC-MS/MS
Experience:
·Liquid Scintillation or other equivalent laboratory instrument experience is a plus, but is not required for this position.
·Basic knowledge of chemical laboratory procedures, techniques, and equipment including analytical instrumentation.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
·Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
·Ability to work within and meet established deadlines
·Typing speed of 60-65 WPM
-Highly organized and attention to detail
-Must have a clean background, a valid driver's license and clean driving history
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
-This job operates primarily in a lab environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.
-The job requires frequent standing, walking, grasping, carrying, and speaking; and occasional sitting, reaching, bending, and stooping.
-Capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, with assistance if needed.
-Must be able to regularly lift 50 pounds

$20 - $23 an hour
