Navajo Area Indian Health Services administers health centers, and hospitals, providing health care to approximately 201,516 members of the Navajo Nation. The Navajo Nation is the largest Native tribe in the United States and has the largest reservation, which encompasses more than 25,516 square miles in northern Arizona, western New Mexico, and southern Utah, with three satellite communities in central New Mexico. The NAIHS is the primary provider of inpatient, ambulatory care, preventive and community health, and environmental health services for members of the Navajo Nation and the San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe.

Gallup Indian Medical Center
Gallup Indian Medical Center (GIMC) is a 78-bed hospital in Gallup, New Mexico, on the border of the Navajo Reservation. Clinical specialties at GIMC include Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Anesthesia, OB/GYN, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Radiology, Pathology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine, and Urology. The workload at Gallup is one of the largest in the Indian Health Service with 310,000 outpatient encounters and 4,400 inpatient admissions annually. GIMC has the largest staff of all Navajo Area Client facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures, such as X-ray examinations
- Responsible for accurately positioning patients and ensuring that a quality diagnostic image is produced.
- Work closely with radiologists, the physicians who interpret medical images to either diagnose or rule out disease or injury. For the images to be interpreted correctly by the radiologist, the imaging examination must be performed properly by a radiologic technologist.
SCHEDULE
There will be some variability of schedule based upon the needs of the patients and the imaging department. In general, the CT will work Dayshifts and Nightshifts of 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM with 30-minute lunch break, Nights shifts of 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm. All shifts can vary depending assigned shifts by Supervisor of Diagnostic Imaging services typically Monday through Sundays.
TERM
13 Weeks starting 01 April - 30 June with two option through 12/32
REQUIREMENTS
- Possess a valid, active, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state within the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
- Shall have a minimum of 6 months of experience within their specialty
- Shall possess current registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory for all specialties.
