SUMMARY:

This position is primarily responsible for maintaining and using equipment and supplies necessary to radiographically demonstrate portions of the human body on film and/or digital systems for diagnostic purposes. The Technologist must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Uses beam-restrictive devices and patient-shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patient and staff.
  • Provide radiographic examination of all body parts for diagnostic interpretation. Must exercise professional judgment in performance of procedures, applying principles of radiation protection.
  • Prepares and sets up x-ray room for patient; Adjusts controls to set exposure factors, such as time and distance; positions patient as appropriate and sets up and adjusts equipment to obtain optimum view of specific body area as requested by physician.
  • Determines patients’ x-ray needs by reading requests or instructions from providers.
  • Makes exposures necessary for the requested procedures, rejecting and repeating work that does not meet established standards.
  • Explains procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtains cooperation.
  • Maintains patient records and files.
  • Assumes responsibility for departmental quality assurance program involving the area of radiography.
  • Pursues continuing education to maintain ARRT license.
  • Transfers patient to and from radiology by utilizing proper transfer protocols.
  • Responsible for equipment care and maintenance.
  • Must be willing to stay until the last study of the day is complete and work various shifts.
  • Willing to learn other imaging modalities as the company requires.
  • Must be able to perform radiology duties in all remote site clinics and willing to work outside of assigned department.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and follows HIPAA guidelines.
Requirements:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school;

Must have ARRT (RT) and (BD) Certifications
