Rad Tech Apprentice Prn - Cardiac Cath Lab

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of assigned unit management, provides patient prep, physician assistant/scrubbing assistance, transports patients to and from various hospital areas and documents waveforms, patient data and procedure information as assigned. Performs procedures in cardiac Cath lab EP to support the unit health care team which will provide clinical experience field necessary to gain expertise toward attainment of a position in the cardiovascular field.

Minimal Acceptable Job Qualifications
Registration/Certification/Licensure: CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation) within three (3) months of hire
Experience: None required.
Education: Currently a second-year student in an accredited Radiological school pursuing an Associates Degree in Radiological Technology or the completion of a degree in the health care field with related training/experience in cardiovascular areas. Must continue to progress in accredited program to remain in the apprentice classification.

Job Knowledge & Skills:

• Demonstrates working knowledge of the English language, verbal and written.
• Demonstrates basic understanding of anatomy and physiology, the use of x-ray equipment as it relates to Cardiac Cath Lab, EP Lab work, basic x-ray production, and implementation of radiation protection standards.
• Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic technique.
• Requires ability to gather clinical history for quality database.
• Demonstrates basic understanding of patient transportation.
• Requires basic communication skills of the related behaviors, needs and comfort appropriate to the age (including child, adolescent, aging adult) and diagnosis of patient served in order to support the provision of an individualized interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Requires basic working knowledge of office operations, filing, record keeping, receptionist duties and general office procedures, as well as working knowledge of a computer or typewriter keyboard.
• Demonstrates well developed interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, to relate effectively with all internal and external customers, as needed.
