ENGINEERING

What We Do

At Goldman Sachs, our Engineers don’t just make things – we make things possible.  Change the world by connecting people and capital with ideas.  Solve the most challenging and pressing engineering problems for our clients.  Join our engineering teams that build massively scalable software and systems, architect low latency infrastructure solutions, proactively guard against cyber threats, and leverage machine learning alongside financial engineering to continuously turn data into action.  Create new businesses, transform finance, and explore a world of opportunity at the speed of markets.

Engineering, which is comprised of our Technology Division and global strategists groups, is at the critical center of our business, and our dynamic environment requires innovative strategic thinking and immediate, real solutions.  Want to push the limit of digital possibilities?  Start here.

Who We Look For

Goldman Sachs Engineers are innovators and problem-solvers, building solutions in risk management, big data, mobile and more. We look for creative collaborators who evolve, adapt to change and thrive in a fast-paced global environment.

MORE ABOUT THIS JOB

YOUR IMPACT

Within AIMS, Strategists (also known as “Strats”) work closely with all parts of the business to develop analytical and quantitative methods for manager selection, portfolio construction, and risk management.  Strat team members are responsible for developing these analytics, and are given ample opportunity to develop creative and novel solutions.

Successful Strats are analytical, driven, and can communicate with precision and clarity about complex financial, business, and mathematical concepts.  AIMS Strats is looking for applicants with degrees in a quantitative field such as financial engineering, physics, statistics, applied mathematics, and others, or with relevant professional experience.

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

  • Work closely with AIMS Investment Team and Portfolio Managers to develop new analytics using advanced quantitative, statistical, or econometric techniques to continue to enhance our manager selection and portfolio construction processes
  • Research, propose, and implement portfolio construction frameworks that take into account portfolio-specific constraints, exposures, and risk objectives
  • Partner with AIMS client teams to develop automated and ad-hoc client-facing analytics
  • Develop and deliver presentations summarizing proposed solutions to senior AIMS management
  • Implement analytics and mathematical models in production-quality software

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills, including a degree in a quantitative discipline and/or related work experience
  • A demonstrated ability to transform concepts and ideas into robust software. Proficiency in Python, Java, C++, Matlab, or an equivalent language strongly desired
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate complex financial and mathematical concepts to both technical and business audiences globally
  • An entrepreneurial approach and passion for problem solving and product development, that can also thrive in a team environment
  • Familiarity with financial markets and assets preferred
