The Quality Technician supports API by ensuring that products meet quality standards through various inspection and testing procedures. Additionally, this position creates basic drawings required to support the fabrication of basic pipe and fitting products manufactured by the company and requires working closely with production teams to identify and resolve quality issues, maintain documentation related to quality control, and implement improvements to enhance overall product quality. .
A typical day:
- Create fabrication drawings using various methods, including 2D & 3D computer-aided drafting (CAD) software.
- Revise and improve drawings based on quality and manufacturability feedback.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
- Perform various testing procedures using calibrated equipment and instruments to assess product quality and performance.
- Review material test certifications for incoming products and raw materials for compliance with specifications.
- Record inspection and test results accurately, maintaining detailed documentation for reference and analysis.
- Assist with the administration of the Non-Conforming Material process.
- Collaborate with production teams to implement corrective actions and preventive measures to address quality issues promptly.
- Conduct root cause analysis to determine the underlying causes of quality problems and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance processes, procedures, and product quality.
The ideal candidate requires the following:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Applicable experience in a technically related discipline.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Familiar with inspection and testing techniques.
- Data collection and basic analysis.
- Basic knowledge of 2D/3D CAD principles.
We highly prefer the following:
- An associate or technical degree in a relevant field such as quality assurance, manufacturing technology, or a related discipline.
- 1 year of AutoCAD drafting experience.
- Experience in metalworking, HVAC, or Pipe, Valve, and Fitting industry.
