Job Description
The Quality Control Manager supervises the staff (10-15 techs) and all activities of the Quality Control Department. These include, incoming inspection, in-process inspection, finished goods inspection, calibration and any other activities that the lab supports.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides supervision to Quality Control staff.
- Responsible for training of Quality Control staff.
- Creates individual goals with direction from Director of Quality and monitors performance.
- Communicates with Quality Control staff members to keep them informed about company news, policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with Production members to determine inspection priorities and ensures that inspections are performed by Quality team members.
- Collaborates with Engineering to develop inspection plans.
- Collaborates with Engineering and Production members to investigate and document non-conformances.
- Alerts the Director of Quality regarding questionable measurements and/or non-conforming parts.
- Ensures measurement tools are calibrated and in working order.
- Monitors, schedules, and verifies that first article inspections and customer submittals are conducted per requirements.
- Verifies completion and accuracy of inspection records.
- Ensures compliance with ISO 13485 requirements.
- Participates in quality projects as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Need significant experience with measurement equipment: micrometers, calipers, gage pins, rulers, go-gages
- Experience with tensile testing equipment is desired.
- Excellent verbal and written (English) communications skills.
- Ability to speak Spanish is highly desired.
- Working knowledge of statistics and data analysis for process control.
- Knowledge of Quality Management System requirements, ISO 13485.
- Proven ability to supervise, direct, address performance issues and develop a staff.
- Excellent organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work with all levels of personnel from company president to production associates.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
- Self-Driven and highly organized with the ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team setting.
- Ability to investigate quality items and document investigation activities and results.
- Strong Excel skills highly a must
- Bachelors degree preferred, minimum of Associates Degree.
- Minimum of 5+ years experience in a similar people management role in Quality or Engineering.
