The Quality Inspector with our Columbus, Georgia location is a key member of our site’s quality organization. Below are characteristics and skills we would like to see in the successful candidate:
Monitor production and provide quality testing and data collection of lithographic plates utilizing imagesetter, densitometer and other devices. Evaluations include audits to ensure visual inspection criteria meet specifications. Provide guidance to finishing and process line operations for proper disposition of product quality issues.
Maintain and control Tech Center facility, instrumentation, and equipment. Prepare lab coatings and coat samples. Participate in continuous improvement, incident investigation and other team projects. Quality Control or lab experience strongly preferred.
To qualify for this position, applicants must possess the following critical competencies:
- Data collection, analysis, and reporting skills
- Excellent troubleshooting/problem solving skills.
- Planning/organization; attention to detail, follow through.
- Good communication/ interpersonal skills, able to work with cross-functional teams and communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Computer skills to include MS Office Suite and preferably SAP.
- Flexible as needed to provide support for 24x7 manufacturing operation.
- Skill or experience in quality control including basic knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Good mechanical aptitude and math skills.
- Ability to work safely, follow 5s principles and understand safety data sheets.
- Excellent attention to detail in everyday work from plate inspections to following procedures.
- Able to visually detect and classify quality defects.
Other Requirements:
- Willing to work overtime and weekends/holidays as required by business needs.
- Climbing, walking, standing, lifting of up to 50 lbs., working around chemicals, subdued lighting. Ability to wear PPE (e.g. static-dissipating steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, gloves). Clear vision at 20 inches or less, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
